Mattel Battlestar Galactica Colonial Landram Reproduction Box

“Across alien worlds, the journey for survival continues…”

Return to the original Battlestar Galactica universe with this Mattel Colonial Landram Reproduction Box, carefully recreated to capture the dramatic artwork, distinctive graphics and unmistakable science-fiction styling of the original Mattel packaging.

When Battlestar Galactica arrived on television screens in 1978, viewers were introduced to the surviving Colonial fleet and its desperate search for a new home following the destruction of the Twelve Colonies by the Cylons. Led by the mighty Battlestar Galactica, the survivors encountered strange new worlds, hostile forces and unknown dangers as they continued their search for the legendary planet called Earth.

The Landram was one of the Colonial ground vehicles seen during those planetary adventures. A rugged tracked transport designed to carry personnel across difficult terrain, its futuristic appearance made it an ideal vehicle for extending the Battlestar Galactica adventure beyond the Vipers, Raiders and spacecraft for which the series became famous.

Mattel brought the Landram into its Battlestar Galactica toy range, giving children the chance to send their Colonial Warriors on missions across the surfaces of distant planets. Its wonderfully atmospheric packaging—with its alien landscape, dramatic science-fiction artwork and unmistakable late-1970s design—became an important part of the toy’s appeal.

Why you’ll want it

Finding an original Colonial Landram box in good condition after more than four decades can be difficult. Large toy boxes were particularly vulnerable to crushing, tearing, fading and being discarded once the vehicle had been removed.

This reproduction provides the perfect way to reunite a loose Mattel Colonial Landram with the packaging it once had, transforming the presentation of the vehicle and recreating the appearance of a complete vintage toy.

For anyone who remembers Battlestar Galactica the first time around, it’s also a wonderful piece of nostalgia—a reminder of an era when spectacular box artwork could transport you to another world before you’d even opened the toy.
